Wakeboarding emerged in the 1980s as a hybrid of water skiing and surfing, because with wakeboarding, surfers no longer had to wait for a suitable wave between lulls. Wakeskating, wakeboarding, and wakesurfing are all possible in the unique alpine environment of Lake Lucerne. The temperature of the clear lake never rises above 22°C, even in summer - which is why a neoprene suit can be an advantage, especially for beginners.
