Hikes from Vitznau for every Taste

Vitznau is a popular starting point for hikes of all kinds and for every level of difficulty: Challenging mountain tours that start in the middle of town and lead up to over 1,000 meters above sea level to the Vitznauerstock or the Steigelfadbalm cave, or relaxed walks to beautiful places such as the park forest or swimming spots.

Looking for leisurely walking and hiking trails? The Panoramaweg through Vitznau is just the thing. There are three varieties to choose from, depending on your mood. And there is something even for the smallest hikers: a separate route for walkers with prams (Panoramaweg light trail).

The park forest trail is more leisurely and leads past several historical buildings to a fairytale forest with a quiet atmosphere in the middle of intact nature.

Adventurers might opt for the Höhenwanderweg. The highlight is the Steigelfadbalm Cave, site of many significant paleontological discoveries. On the path there and back, hikers experience a variety of terrain and amazing views.

If you like it sporty, you can opt for the tour of the Vitznauerstock/Gersauerstock. The unique feature of this peak is, depending on which side of the summit you are on, the name is different. The path is definitely a worthwhile excursion for hikers who like heights, with many vantage points over Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains as well as a varied trail. Before the summit, an impressive 1,057 meters gain in altitude awaits hikers.

Hike in Comfort

The enjoyment factor is high on these 5 hiking trails in Vitznau. Numerous restaurants with inviting terraces overlook the lake on the leisurely paths through the village and along the lake. Further up, restaurants such as the Berggasthof Hinterbergen or the Restaurant auf der Wissifluh (open by reservation) spoil visitors with their traditional Swiss cuisine.

If altitude gain is not your cup of tea, the hike can be combined with a cable car ride. The Hinterbergen and Wissifluh gondolas or the Rigi mountain railways are at your disposal. Thanks to this network of transport, even the most relaxed walker has the option to breathe some fresh mountain air.
